Researchers concluded that unlike the past heroic figures who tended to do the job as a human like a human being and believe in social justice, the era of Hollywood figure is aggressive, emotional, and cynical and rarely spoke about the virtue to do good for humanity. “Modern day heroes figure like Iron Man are mostly a rich playboy and arrogant figure,” says Dr. Sharon Lamb, University of Massachusetts researcher, as quoted from Telegraph.co.uk, Monday, (16 / 8).

Previously, Lamb conducted a survey of 674 boys with an age range 4-18 years. Furthermore, he also asked the sales manager of toys and movies as additional information. From the overall data collected, Lamb concludes the film and toy market was well aware that children who were experiencing growth figures need to duplicate. The figure was to motivate them in establishing their identity in adolescence.

Unfortunately, said Lamb, who established the identity of a narrow version of masculinity. “They (the children) will eventually be a player or a slacker, a figure who never tried to save his own face,” said Lamb.

Lamb said the movie teaches the children whether they would become a hero or a slacker. Children, he said, then said if he does not become a hero and he will be a slacker. “Slacker is funny, but lazy is not knowing what should be done, lazy people do not like school and they tend to ignore the responsibility,” he asserted.

Hence, to Lamb suggested that the school could fence off children from a narrow perspective on heroism. He cited, before becoming a hero Superman is a reporter. However, today’s hero was just thinking about themselves. “They (the children) need to be taught early on to distance themselves from such a narrow perspective and encourage them to find the lie that helped them establish the identity of reasonable care,” he concluded.
