Infant sleeping patterns is about 16 hours per day. Unluckily, they do not always sleep these 16 hours in a row. They sleep usually in periods of three to four hours because their bodies use all of the nutrients they get from the feeding very quickly. The result is that they often wake up because they hungry. It is important for us as parents to get up with our baby and keep them properly fed so they will also grow properly.

As they grow older, their sleeping patterns will begin to mirror their parents. They will begin to have sleeping patterns with longer hours and finally sleeps at nights. This is happening because as they grow, their stomach will also grow. They can consume and hold more foods at one time. This keeps them happy and properly functioning longer before they need to take their meal.

Infants should sleep at their own cribs, so their sleeping patterns will not be disturbed, although it is okay to have their own crib at their parent’s room, but they should not sleep with their parents. There is higher risk in their sleeping patterns when they sleep with their parents. There are risks for being strangled, suffocating, or maybe suffering from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Placing them at their own crib will help them to adjust infant sleeping patterns.
